Cheese Roulettes

 
 

 

 
 

2 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoon B. P. [baking powder]
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening
2/3 cup milk
melted butter
1 cup grated cheese
salt
paprika

Sift flour, B.P., salt.
sift again.

Cut in shortening

ad all milk at once

stir carefully untill all flour is dampened

then stir vigirously untill mixture forms soft dough,

turn out on floured board

kneed 30 seconds

roll oblong sheet 1/8" thick

brush with melted butter

spread cheese evenly over dough

sprinkle with salt and paprika

roll sheet as for jelly roll

cut in 3/4" slices

and place on a greased Pan,

bake in hot oven 15 or 20 min.

makes 2 doz

Cool oven 250°F
Slow oven 250–350°F
Moderate oven 350–375°F
Hot oven 375–450°F
